Intermediate Singletrack at Adelaide’s Premier Bike Park

Overlocker is an intermediate-rated mountain bike trail within Eagle Mountain Bike Park — Adelaide’s purpose-built mountain biking destination, located just 12 kilometres southeast of the CBD in the Adelaide Hills. At 1.1 kilometres, Overlocker delivers a satisfying run through native bushland, with enough technical features and terrain variation to engage experienced riders while remaining within reach of improving cyclists building their skills.

Eagle Mountain Bike Park provides a comprehensive network of trails across over 22 kilometres, catering for everything from beginner cross-country loops to difficult downhill runs, a skills development park, a jumps park, and a trials area. Overlocker sits in the intermediate tier — trails rated blue under the international grading system — alongside other trails like Gunners Run and Blue Gums, creating a substantial network of same-level riding for cyclists who have moved beyond beginner terrain.

The Ride

The trail winds through the eucalypt woodland that characterises the park, using the natural topography of the Adelaide Hills foothills to create a varied riding experience. The intermediate rating reflects moderate technical features — riders can expect natural surface trails with some rock, undulating terrain, and sections where reading the trail ahead makes the difference between a flowing ride and a jarring one.

Overlocker connects with the broader trail network, allowing riders to build longer outings by linking multiple trails in sequence. Ten minutes of riding quickly becomes an hour when the adjacent trails are added, and the park’s thoughtful design means riders can choose their own difficulty level at most intersections.

Planning Your Ride

Eagle Mountain Bike Park is accessed from Mount Barker Road at Leawood Gardens, with parking at the Pastor Kavell lookout. The park is open sunrise to sunset and closes during total fire bans. A downloadable trail map shows all available routes. Standard mountain biking safety equipment is recommended. The park is free to use and maintained by a combination of government funding and volunteer effort.

Overlocker is one more reason Eagle Mountain Bike Park has become Adelaide’s go-to riding destination — a well-designed intermediate trail through native bushland that delivers genuine mountain biking within a suburban bus ride of the CBD.
