Wine & Food Tours

The Fleurieu Peninsula encompasses several wine sub-regions including McLaren Vale, Currency Creek, Langhorne Creek, and the Southern Fleurieu — making it one of South Australia’s most diverse wine regions. Guided wine tours offer access to boutique producers and cellar doors that are harder to visit independently.

  • McLaren Vale Wine Tours — Numerous operators offer guided wine tasting tours through McLaren Vale, combining cellar door visits with food experiences at local producers and restaurants. McLaren Vale sits just 40km south of Adelaide, making it accessible for day tours from the city.

About the Fleurieu Peninsula for Guided Tours

The Fleurieu Peninsula stretches south from Adelaide, bounded by Gulf St Vincent to the west and Encounter Bay to the south. The peninsula encompasses some of South Australia’s most diverse landscapes — from the rolling vineyard hills of McLaren Vale to the dramatic clifftop coastline of Deep Creek National Park and the sheltered bays around Victor Harbor and Goolwa.

Deep Creek National Park, at the southern tip of the peninsula, protects the most rugged and scenic section of the Fleurieu coastline. The Heysen Trail passes through the park on its way from Cape Jervis, and the park’s own trail network includes clifftop walks with views across to Kangaroo Island.

Planning Tips

Proximity to Adelaide: The Fleurieu is South Australia’s most accessible trail region — McLaren Vale is 45 minutes from the CBD, and Victor Harbor is 80km south. Day tours from Adelaide are very practical.

Deep Creek access: Deep Creek National Park has limited road access, and the most spectacular coastal sections require hiking in. Guided operators can arrange transport to trailheads.

Heysen Trail start: The southern terminus of the Heysen Trail is at Cape Jervis — accessible by road from Adelaide. The Cape Jervis to Tunkalilla Beach section (first 2 days) is particularly spectacular and often walked as a standalone trip.

Where to stay: See our Fleurieu Peninsula accommodation guide for stays near the trails and wine regions.
