Where the Limestone Coast Meets the Southern Ocean

Canunda National Park protects 40 kilometres of the Limestone Coast’s most dramatic coastline — towering limestone cliffs, wave-cut platforms, blowholes, and long stretches of wild surf beach. The camping areas at Boozy Gully and along the coastal track place you on the edge of this spectacular landscape, with nothing between your tent and Antarctica but the Southern Ocean.

The park’s walking trails follow the cliff tops, providing views of the ocean’s fury as waves crash against the limestone ramparts below. Whales are spotted from the cliffs during their winter migration (June–September). The park also protects significant Aboriginal heritage sites and rare coastal vegetation communities.

Planning Your Stay

Canunda is located near the town of Southend, approximately 380 kilometres south-east of Adelaide. The main camping areas are accessible by unsealed roads suitable for 2WD vehicles. Bring all water, food, and firewood. A Parks pass is required. The park is exposed to the Southern Ocean weather — bring warm clothing and a sturdy tent even in summer.
