Budget: Camping & Caravan Parks

The Limestone Coast has excellent camping in its national parks and conservation areas, many of which are within easy reach of the region’s best walking trails.

  • Canunda National Park Camping – Rugged coastal camping within one of SA’s most dramatic national parks. Multiple campgrounds offering beach access, coastal dune walks, and birdwatching. From ~$20/night. Book through the SA National Parks booking system.
  • Bool Lagoon Camping – A Ramsar-listed wetland that is one of Australia’s most significant waterbird habitats. Basic camping facilities with incredible birdlife. From ~$17/night.
  • Naracoorte Caves Camping & Accommodation – Stay right at one of South Australia’s UNESCO World Heritage sites. Camping, caravan sites, and bunkhouse accommodation. Close to the region’s bushwalking trails. From ~$25/night camping, ~$75/night bunkhouse.

  • Robe Hotel – One of the Limestone Coast’s most historic pubs, built in 1847. Comfortable pub accommodation right in the centre of Robe, with a restaurant serving local seafood. From ~$130/night.

Planning Tips

Best time to visit: Spring and autumn are ideal for walking. Summers can be hot and windy on the coast.

Wine regions: Coonawarra and Padthaway are world-class red wine regions – book ahead for popular cellar door stays.

Robe in summer: Robe fills up very quickly over Christmas and January – book months in advance for peak summer periods.
