Planning Tips

Barossa Trail: The 90km rail trail from Gawler to Angaston is perfect for cycling – most visitors do day sections. Tanunda makes the best base for the central section.

Wine region: The Barossa Valley has more than 80 cellar doors. Many offer accommodation – book ahead for weekends as the valley fills quickly.

Barossa Vintage Festival: Held in odd-numbered years in April, this is the valley’s biggest event. Book accommodation 12 months ahead.

Para Wirra: Para Wirra Recreation Park offers excellent bushwalking close to the northern Barossa – a good half-day add-on to a trail visit.

Guided tours: The Barossa has excellent cycling and wine tour operators. See our Barossa Valley tours guide for guided cycling, e-bike, and wine experiences.
