Whether you're walking, cycling or horse-riding, taking a trail is a great way to spend time with family and friends. When choosing a trail it's important to consider your fitness level and experience - you're probably eager to get started, however it's important not to overdo it.
If you're travelling with a group be sure to assess the capabilities of all members - there's no point setting off and then discovering that one of your party isn't up to it.
Other things to do to ensure your trail is a safe one:
- Set a realistic time-frame to complete the trail;
- Check weather reports;
- Ensure you have ample food and water;
- Stay on the marked trails;
- Dress comfortably and wear practical footwear.
